Experience Tea Ceremony in a 250-year-old Tea Room
小久保瑛子Experience an authentic tea ceremony in a charming, approximately 250-year-old tea room within Zentokuji Temple. Enter through a traditional nijiriguchi (crawling entrance) and find yourself in a tranquil space that feels like a small, serene world, away from the bustle of daily life. The beautiful garden, designed by Komazo–the official gardener of the Kaga Domain who also created Kanazawa’s famous Kenrokuen Garden–welcomes you to the tea room. Here, a tea master from the Yabunouchi or Urasenke school will prepare matcha for you, which you’ll enjoy alongside local sweets from Johana. You’ll also have the rare opportunity to see prized tea utensils from Zentokuji’s collection. It’s an excellent experience for both beginners and international visitors, with the chance to learn the proper tea ceremony etiquette on-site.
